[CHARACTERS]

Main Characters

Olivia Chamberlain
She/her // 17 // Trans woman // Unwilling Seer of Spirits

Olivia Chamberlain's family has a curse... But she feels she is ESPECIALLY cursed. It's almost like the Gods love to watch her struggle, or something, with what she's already been through AND what she now has to put up with. Not to mention, everything that happened when she found Maxwell... it leaves a pit of anxiety churning in her gut just thinking about it.

Olivia has spiritual magic that she's not fully aware of (yet), and usually just hits things hammers until they stop attacking her. She also knows perhaps a bit too much about how to use a gun, living by the philosophy: "if you use it right, one round will do".

Appearances: Prologue

Maxwell "Max" Chamberlain
They/he // 17 // Transmasc nonbinary // Axe-Swinging Ex-Skeptic

'Max' Chamberlain is renowned for being really fucking brave and a history enthusiast. Prior to their disappearance, they were a skeptic, dismissing the concept of the Chamberlain Curse and, despite working for Treeroot Paranormal Investigation Bureau, would deny the existence of ghosts. Their role was valuable, but after a certain failed solo investigation of the haunted house on the hill... well...

Maxwell's value in a fight, besides his brute-force 'slice it to bits with my axe' method, are his ability to tell when something is wrong, his knowledge and connections, and his newfound (uncanny) ability to freak people out. He mostly likes the axe, though.

Appearances: Prologue

Bravo Maddox
He/him mostly, but "anything goes! ^_^" // Age unknown // Agender // Psychic Brain-Frame

Bravo was born in a lab. Years ago, he was freed by one of the scientists from whom he took his last name, and holed up in the House on the Hill, given control over the house's technology but forced to never leave. After the incident that Maxwell caused, he escaped again with the help of Torushi. Despite his inexperience with real society, he is surprisingly emotionally intelligent, albeit also a bit naïve.

Bravo is psychic, in a Psychonauts-like way of the word. He can read minds and do telekinesis, and he gets stronger yet more unstable the more stressed he gets. He's also the most charismatic of the group, only because he's just so polite that he's difficult to turn down.

Toru Sǐwáng ("Torushi")
He/him // 106 (or so) // Male // Ambiguously Undead

Torushi died during World War II. Not on the battlefield, no, as a civilian casualty. Back then, when he came back, he was angry and restless, eventually drawn to the House on the Hill a few decades after the war ended. The House's indoors were this big, impossible thing, constantly shifting to prevent escape. He was too strong to control but too dangerous to release- despite everything they did to try and kill him, he survived. Now that he's out, he's just... tired.

Torushi is able to manipulate flesh, meat, and other organic matter. In spite of this, he chooses to look exactly as he did when he was alive, even if he's capable of almost entirely changing how he looks. A frighteningly powerful ability that he thankfully rarely uses.
